                           GALATYN ATV Reach Trimmer

The Galatyn reach trimmer is designed for attachment to any of the larger 4 x 4 ATVs and enables you to trim banks, verges, footpaths and other such areas of unwanted vegetation.

The machine can be equipped with a choice of either a 600mm(2ft) multi line strimmer head, or a 450mm(18") rotary mower head. Other options to become available are a reciprocating knife trimmer for light hedges and a rotary wire brush for weed removal.

The clever arm geometry allows working positions above and below ground level, and from in front of the ATV round to beside the operator, at full reach. The cutting head works within the operators normal field of vision, thereby reducing operator strain.

All main functions are hydraulic, the cutting head being angled by a lightweight electric actuator. The machine is self powered except for the electric supply to the actuator which comes simply from the ATV battery.

Mounting consists of the prior fitting of a simple small frame, which is attached to the rear carrier of the quad, and two lugs attached to the foot rest/footboard mountings. Once these fittings have been put in place they can normally remain on the quad, without effecting any other jobs it may be used for. Mounting the Galatyn is then a quick and simple process, the machine being pinned to the frame on the rear carrier, a "torsion" frame is pinned to the foot peg lugs, and the "loadable link" is placed onto the 50mm ball hitch and adjusted to transfer the weight of the machine to the rear axle of the ATV. This device also locks the rear suspension of the ATV, making control of the trimmer easier. The control levers can then be clamped into position and the single electric connection plugged in.

The Galatyn is powered by a Briggs & Stratton Intek OHV engine of 10 HP (7.5Kw). This engine drives a tandem hydraulic pump, the smaller of which powers the main arm movements, the larger powering the cutting head through a 6HP (4.5Kw) motor.
